Reunions - Rourke Nemechek Reunions 1979 - 2004

HISTORY OF
FAMILY REUNIONS By Sister Margaret Rourke

Camp Adda
Walden –about four miles northeast of Salina
–Presbyterian Church Camp was the first location for our
reunions after the Cedar Bluffs, WaKeeney, and other
places.
-
1978 –Our
plans were suddenly changed by Steve Nemechek’s death.
We did not go to reunion but all went to his funeral a
few days later.
-
1979—First
time to experience the dorms, small swimming pool and
bath houses. Fr. Don Zimmerman came and celebrated mass.

1980—Same—Fr. Norbert Dlabal for mass
-
1981 –Greg
Nemechek’s wedding so we all went to Goodland and had
reunion there.

1982 - 1983:
Fr. Steve Parke for mass

1984---Fr.
Jerry Morgan
-
1885—Fr.
Norbert Dlabal—Jacob was baptized –tornado had hit—car
windows were broken--Carl was ailing and died three
weeks later.

1986—Fr.
Norbert Dlabal—Helen died April 5, 1986

1987---Rhonda’s wedding in Goodland—All attended and
“reunioned”

In a search
for a larger Camp we were able to arrange for the
Dane G. Hansen Reservation—Boy Scout Camp near the
Kirwin Dam south of Kirwin, KS.
-
1988---Enjoyed eight cabin units with four beds in each
with bath, the director's apartment, camp sites, tents,
dining room, large swimming pool and open spaces.
No priest available so Sr. Margaret and Eileen led a
Scripture Service. We had a choir, readers, prayers of
the faithful and all.

Curtis’s wedding in Garden City—All went there and
“reunioned”

deceased Regina Aschenbrenner, Katherine Rourke-Daigle,
Gemma Parke-Comstock)

28-30 86 Present. Remembered Ron Nemechek who died June
