The Sisters of Origin
Weekend in 2007
On April 13, 14, and 15,
2007, The Sisters of Origin convened the annual official
weekend of celebration. The convening posed a challenge
of snow and rain and sleet and icy roads. But
seven brave women warriors arrived fighting off the
snow, ice, sleet, rain, and weather. A most
astounding uplifting and profound weekend happened.
It is suspected that many lives were changed, even if a
boy did show up.... |

Sister Margaret again arranged for a "cabin" at Milford Lake,
west of Junction City owned by the order. It just
looks like a convent.
It wasn't a "real" convent. |

The Toes Know
Last year it appears an elder woman led the young ones
astray and ended with ... toes? |

The topic of
Toes was scheduled to be on the 2007 agenda. We
never got to that part of the agenda this year... but
aren't they just the cutest piggy toes you ever saw. |
|
The Women of 2007 |
|
|

Kathleen,
Margaret, Louise, Jennie, Margaret and Laurita.......
oh, and don't forget Gina !
Someone had to take the picture when it finally stopped
raining and we took to a long hike down the middle of
the highway like we owned the whole road... we did own
it. |
|
|
We Celebrated Life ! |

We celebrated
Sister Margaret's 60th Jubilee upcoming and Laurita had
found some original letters to and from Helen and her
sisters' and that made it extra special ! We were
so happy we all cried. Margaret Ann made the cake. |

We celebrated
Margaret Ann's kicking butt on some doctors and nurses
who were mean to her. She kicked and we cheered.
Enough coping, let's go dancing.
But what is this doo-dad present
with dangly things? |

Ok, Kathleen,
I was asking for a new hair-do and you gave me a new
crown too! That means I can get rid of my yucky
one now.
Oh, I am so purty and happy! |

Then we began the serious work of reviewing family
scandals and secrets .... get ready, sisters, we have to
pose nicely. |

We do not
either have teeth like Elma what's her name. Even
is she was a mean lady. |

We only looked
this good when we first got there so we better take the
serious pictures first. Weather? What weather? |
The Sisters go to work (and play) the first
evening and review the family tree, the stories,
Gina and Sister Margaret's photo album, Laurita's
letters written by the Aunts as young women, and we get the whole thing all
straightened out! Food? Did we mention the
great food? |

In the tradition of the "Ya-Ya
Sisterhood", The Sisterhood of Origin honor the maternal
line of our feminine ancestors: Crescenzia Thum,
Crescentzia Emmerling, Victoria Halbleib, Margaret
Rourke and our mothers. We celebrate and honor their
wisdom, courage, love, and what they gave us. May we do
the same for our daughters and their daughters. |

Ok, we like
this boy. He can show up anytime! What a
treat for Richard to come to visit.
Margaret, Richard and wife Ann. |
And then a boy showed up
the next day! A boy at a Sister's Weekend!
(He could only stand it a little bit so didn't stay very
long.)
|

Jennie, Margaret, Richard, Kathleen
Do you think we should tell the rest of the cousins that
we are now the elders, the oldest, the wisest, the most
mature? |

If these pictures get out to others, do you think they
will think we just sat at the table and ate all the
time? Especially when we spent all this time
praying. |
And then
it was time for Prayers.
Who's the best person to write a Prayer Service for the
Sisters?
Why Jennie, of course!
Exactly the first person who would come to mind for
Prayers!
Because it was an experience no one will ever forget,
here is the Prayer Book for you to download.

|

Now this is serious business,
this praying stuff....
See, our Prayer books are right there
beside our water bottles. |
|
Saturday Morning Was Interesting |

You've got to be kidding!
I wonder what they didn't like about the Prayer Service?
They seemed fine last night.
Jennie is just trying to sleep. |

This gives a whole new meaning to the poem about the
world ending... something about ending with a whimper or
a bang. I think this is the bang part of that
deal. |

Hey! I think she's moving... yep, there's her arm, and
some eyes are starting to open. Looks like she
could do push-ups.
.... Think she likes our music? |

These banging women need to get out more. Don't
they know anything about time zones? And they
think they have musical instruments? Yep, they
definitely don't get out enough. |

Yep, we got her up but we still think things aren't
quite working right. Think this is why she's so
odd and eccentric?
Not enough sleep. She's not looking good. |

Ok, dressed and alert and ....
Do you think anyone will see those pictures you took of
me? What about my image?!? |
|
Sunday we share and teach and learn and try new
things |

Oh, sure I know how this camera works. |

Yep, you just push these buttons. |

Sister Margaret awards the "Three Wise Women" award to
Eileen until next year. |
| |

And the Sisters go home to return on:
April 25, 26, 27, 2008
we go to grow and learn more to share. |
